How we pick tools, and who pays us.

AI Task Map is an independent guide. We make money in two small ways: a few of the outbound links to tools are paid referrals, and (eventually) a Pro tier for power users. That's it. No sponsorships, no “featured” slots, no vendor pay-to-play.

The order rule

On every answer, tools are listed best-first based on our editorial judgement. The order is set in code by an explicit rank field — paid referral status is a separate field and is never used to sort, promote, or filter recommendations.

If a better tool comes along that doesn't pay us a cent, it still goes to the top. If a paying tool stops being the best option, it gets demoted or removed.

How we evaluate a tool

  • Does it actually fit the task we're recommending it for?
  • Output quality on real, representative work — not demo prompts.
  • Pricing transparency (no “contact sales” for small teams).
  • How they handle your data — training opt-out, retention, region.
  • Whether the company is likely to still exist in 12 months.

What “paid link” means

A link marked paid link means we earn a small commission if you sign up after clicking it — at no extra cost to you. You can always go to the tool's site directly instead; we list the canonical URLs below.

Outbound clicks on paid links go through /go/<tool> on this domain so we can count clicks. We don't set tracking cookies on you and we don't sell click data.

Tools we currently have a referral with

This list is generated from the same source of truth that powers the recommendations, so it can't drift out of sync.

If you think a recommendation is wrong

Please tell us. We'll re-evaluate and either change the answer or explain why we still stand by it. Independent feedback is what keeps this site honest.
